Tofu Sauce

A tasty, simple sauce for vegetables, that requires no cooking. It is suitable for Vegan, Raw and Paleo (low carbohydrate) diets.

I developed this recipe from a dish I ate in a Japanese restaurant in Melbourne –. – a small restaurant on Park Street, Sth Yarra, where I had a delicious meal that was Vegan, Dairy and Gluten Free.

There are numerous types of tofu available. Although you can use any for this recipe, the best is the silken tofu which has a very soft and smooth consistency. If you cannot find it fresh in your local Asian supermarket it is widely available in 300 gm tetra packs (in the Asian-ingredient aisle).

This tofu sauce would also be delicious with raw spinach; and, with the sauce thinned a little, I have served it over a mixed salad platter, topping it with a small quantity of finely chopped chilli and some toasted sesame seeds.
