Spiced Blueberries

Variation on berries for all diets and all meals.

This simple dish can be an elegant touch to a dessert or breakfast platter. The rosemary makes an unusual addition to this fruit dish.

Diets for which Spiced Blueberries are suitable:

Dairy Free, Diabetic, Fodmap, Gluten Free, Low Calorie, Low Fat, Nut Free, Paleo, Raw, Vegetarian and Vegan.


Preparation: 5 mins | Cooking: 10 mins | Serves: 2+

4 tbsp orange juice*
1 sprig rosemary
1 piece lemon rind (or lime)
400gm (1 medium punnet) blueberries


HEAT the orange juice, rosemary and lemon rind over a moderate heat** for approximately five minutes. This reduces the liquid volume slightly and combines the flavours.
ADD the blueberries over low heat for another 5 minutes. As the berries start to split, remove from the heat.


– Warm or chilled.
– A topping to icecream, other fresh fruit or with breakfast cereal.


* Add a teaspoon of sugar if the berries are not sweet enough.
** Raw diet the heat will be lower temperature (maximum 50 C/104 F) for a longer period.
